Berlin : The US Embassy in Berlin was partly evacuated Thursday when consular section employees felt unwell after touching some documents but police found no suspicious substance, Xinhua reported.
A consular employee experienced breathing difficulty after receiving an envelope containing visa application papers from a unknown man, police spokesman Michael Merkle was quoted as saying.
Two other employees also felt unwell after touching the same documents, he said.
Dozens of people in the building in Zehlendorf, in southwest Berlin, were evacuated and the three employees were sent to hospital.
But police found no suspicious substance in the building after an investigation, the spokesman said.
For security concerns, the consulate remained partly closed and the three employees will stay in hospital for further treatment.
Police said the identity of the man who brought the envelope was not confirmed.
