Panaji: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team raided offices of a mining company which was indicted in the Karnataka mining scam, an agency official said Saturday.
A CBI official told reporters here that the offices and residences of mining magnate Anil Salgaokar, who operates the Salgaocar Mining Industry (SMI), were searched as part of inter-state series of raids on premises of 16 mining companies which are suspected of illegal mining operations in Goa and Karnataka.
“The raids were orchestrated by the Karnataka unit of the CBI which is probing illegal mining,” the official said in an informal briefing.
SMI is a leading mining company, which has already been hauled up by the Justice M.B. Shah Commission probing illegal mining in Goa.
