“The senior most leadership of Congress are in constant touch with Mamata Banerjee,” senior party leader and union Minister of State for Tourism Sultan Ahmed told IANS.

However, Ahmed said he had no knowledge about Prime Minister Manmohan Singh calling up Banerjee.

Trinamool Congress is planning to take a “hard decision” if the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government does not roll back the twin decisions of retail FDI and diesel price hike within a 72-hour deadline, ending Monday.

It has already convened a meeting of the parliamentary party at 5 p.m. at the Town Hall Tuesday.

“We have clearly said that we don’t agree with these policies. Now it is for the Congress to decide,” said Ahmed.

Asked about the options in front of Trinamool if Congress does not roll back the twin decisions, Ahmed said: “We will discuss every option tomorrow (Tuesday) from leaving the ministry but supporting the government from outside to withdrawing support from the government. We can’t support anti-people policies.”
