Dhaka: Bangladeshi religious groups have called for a dawn-to-dusk countrywide protest Sunday over an anti-Islam US video and French caricatures of Prophet Muhammad.

The police have already imposed a ban on rallies in several places in Dhaka from 5.00 p.m. Friday till further orders, Xinhua reported.

The decision came after two rival groups clashed during rallies Saturday, police said.

Several vehicles were smashed and a bus was set on fire in Saturday’s clashes.

Dozens of demonstrators were arrested. They threatened to continue their protests if the US does not arrest the maker of the YouTube video.

“If needed we’ll try to seize the US embassy in Dhaka,” said a Islamic leader.

Violent protest against the video already raged across the Muslim world, and Wednesday’s caricatures of prophet Mohammad in Charlie Hebdo added further fuel to the protests.

The Muslim-majority Bangladesh is home to more than 152 million people.
