New Delhi : Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde will go on a three-day visit to Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir’s Ladakh region in the first week of October to review the border security, an official said here Thursday.
This will be the first border area visit of Shinde after he took over as the union home minister about two months ago.
“The home minister will be visiting Amritsar, Kargil and Leh for three days beginning Oct 6,” the official said here.
The visit comes at a time when Kashmir has been witnessing protests by rural local bodies representatives following the recent killing of two elected village heads in recent weeks.
Kashmir has also witnessed protests against an anti-Islam film that has also led to violence throughout the Muslim world.
