Moscow : Russia Friday denied that its representatives were planning to take part in a four-party meeting on Syria.
Western media reports said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was planning to meet US Vice President Joe Biden, UN-Arab League joint envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi and head of the Syrian opposition Ahmed Moaz al-Khatib.
“Media reports about a meeting in Munich of Lavrov-Biden-Brahimi and al-Khatib do not correspond with reality,” Xinhua quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov as writing on his Twitter account.
He said such a meeting is not in Lavrov’s schedule at the moment.
The leaders are scheduled to meet at the 49th Munich Security Conference to be held Feb 1-3 to discuss global issues like the situation in Mali, Syria and the eurozone crisis.
