New Delhi: A man who disguised himself as a woman to rob unsuspecting people was arrested here while waiting for another target, police said Friday.
“Babu Vyapari of West Bengal was arrested Thursday night. He was looking for another target at Lajpat Nagar in south Delhi,” said a senior police officer.
A gold chain, which he stole from a garment businessman, has been recovered, police said. The trap was laid following the businessman’s complaint.
The accused has long hair, used to wear women’s clothing and would wait at the roadside. He would ask for a lift from vehicle drivers. Once a driver stopped, he would snatch valuables from the vehicle and run away, police said.
“More people may be involved. We are verifying this,” said a police officer.
