Hyderabad: Friday brought good tidings for Majils Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi as his bail petitions in both courts of Nizamabad and Adilabad districts of Andhra Pradesh were approved today. But he is not likely walk out from Adilabad District Jail before Saturday afternoon.
41 year old Owaisi, brother of Hyderabad MP and MIM President Asaduddin Owais was arrested last month in connection with his hate speech case spend more than five week in the jail.
First Additional District Session Judge A. Venkateshwara Reddy who had yesterday reserved his decision on bail petition of Akbaruddin Owaisi after hearing the argument of his lawyer Niranjan Reddy and Public Prosecutor G. Parveen, announced his decision on Friday evening, just before the closing of court. He granted the bail to MIM MLA on two bonds of Rs.25000, a condition of not entering Nirmal Town until further orders. The judge also directed him to deposit his diplomatic passport at the concerned police station.
Earlier in the day, in the neighboring Nizamabad district where his another bail petition was pending since yesterday, the Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Amravati also approved his bail application on health ground asking him to provide a bond of Rs.10.000 and two sureties. He was charged for his hate speech in Nizamabad town on December 8, 2012.
In both courts, lawyers of Akbaruddin Owaisi cited the health conditions of their client and said he need immediate medical attention at a corporate hospital in Hyderabad and be released on bail. The prosecutors told the court about the development in the case. They informed that most of the investigation is completed and voice testing was done at both places Nirmal and Nizamabad.
MIM legislators Muqtada Afsar Khan and Altaf Hyder Razvi and dozens of GHMC corporators are camping in Adilabad town to oversee the completion of formalities. Other MIM legislators and sympathizers will be reaching tomorrow morning. They are planning to bring their leader to his Banjara Hills residence at Hyderabad in a convoy of hundreds of cars.
Akbaruddin Owaisi,who represents Chandrayangutta constituency was arrested on January 8 by the Nirmal Police on the charges of hate speech delivered in the town on December 22 and a case was booked by the police. Jail authorities said, “We are waiting for orders from both courts. It will take little time to get the papers from Nizamabad, 140 KM’s from Adilabad.
Meanwhile, hundreds of MIM workers and supporters in jubilant mood gathered near Adilabad District Jail to have a glimpse of their leader. Police had a tough time to control the public and put restrictions around the jail.
In Hyderabad as soon as the news spread MIM supporters in several areas of Old City busted fire crackers and distributes sweet to celebrate the bail out of their leader. MIM party head quarter Darusslam witnessed extra busy with MLA’s and party leaders arriving there despite weekly office holiday on Friday.
