The agreement was signed by Myanmar Foreign Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin and US Ambassador to Myanmar Derek Mitchell in Nay Pyi Taw Thursday, the official newspaper New Light of Myanmar said.

Under the agreement, Myanmar and the US will resume carrying out a joint opium yield survey in early 2013 and re-establish channels of cooperation on counter-narcotics issues as a means of assisting law enforcement of Myanmar in addressing the production and trafficking of opium and combating transnational crimes, reported Xinhua.
