New Delhi : The central assistance to Delhi has been increased to Rs.1,143 crore ($213.187 million) in the 2013-14 budget presented Thursday, a 27 percent hike from the last year’s allocation.
Finance Minister P. Chidambaram has hiked the assistance to Delhi in the budget 2013-14 he presented to the Lok Sabha Thursdy.
In 2012-13, the then finance minister Pranab Mukherjee had reduced it to Rs.900 crore from its preceding year’s Rs. 1,100 crore.
Of the Rs.1,143 crore, Delhi government has been allocated Rs.700 crore under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission this year, which was Rs.500 crore in 2012-13.
The Rajiv Awas Yojana, which is a housing scheme, has witnessed a whopping increase to Rs.80 crore from last year’s Rs.5 crore.
Allocation to Delhi’s urban infrastructure has been increased from Rs.350 crore to Rs.470 crore in the new budget.
