Civil Liberties said that the arrest is a result of the dirty politics of revenge by the Congress government.”
Lateef Mohammed Khan, General Secretary of CLMCI called charges “politically motivated” and termed Akbaruddin Owaisi as “a political prisoner.”

“Today he is in jail only because MIM has withdrawn its support to the Congress government. Till the time MIM was with the Congress government, it was secular and the moment it withdrew its support, it is labeled as communal party and hence arrested the leadership,” said Mr. Khan.

“The illegal arrest of Akbaruddin Owaisi and the intolerable attitude of the police personnel towards him and the attack on Asaduddin Owaisi’s residence by Hindutva hooligans by raising the slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki jai and Vande Mataram’, shows the fact that from common Muslims to Muslim politicians all are under attack by the police, government and Hindutva terrorists. When an attack can take place on the residence of Member of Parliament that too in high security zone under the control of government of India, one can imagine how threatening and horrifying the life of a common Muslim has become in India.”

Civil Liberties said cases should be registered against people like Thackreys, Modis,Togadias, Advanis, Katiars, Singhals, Yogis, Bhartis etc. “Case against Akbaruddin Owaisi is only because he is a Muslims and that shows that there is a double standard of justice towards Muslims in India,” said Mr. Khan.

Civil Liberties believes appealed all the Muslims to be united and condemn the unjust act of government. Civil Liberties asked the government of India to intervene into the situation because the Fascism has penetrated the Andhra Pradesh government and justice is not possible by this government. Therefore, this committee demands the central government to remove Kiran Kumar Reddy’s rule and also demands to direct the state government to withdraw the various cases and release him immediately.
