Opposing the central government’s decision to allow oil marketing companies to fix the diesel prices, Jayalalithaa in a statement issued here said even economists have been saying that the policy of linking diesel prices to international rates should be changed.

“The decision of the central government to allow oil marketing companies to fix the diesel prices will not pave the way for an healthy economy,” she said.

According to her, the decision will lead to an all-round price increase and added that the government’s decision to hike the subsidised cooking gas cylinders to nine per year is an attempt to shield itself against people’s anger.
