Six killed in Karachi blasts

Islamabad: At least six people including three policemen were killed and seven others injured after twin bomb blasts hit Pakistan’s Karachi Thursday evening, Xinhua reported.

According to police officials, the first blast took place at a garbage dump in Karachi’s Sherpao Colony. Though no one was injured, the big bang spread panic in the area.

The second blast occurred just as police and rescue teams reached the blast site.

At least 13 people, including policemen and rescue workers, were injured in this blast. All the injured were taken to hospital, but six of them succumbed to their injuries.

The blast also destroyed one police vehicle and three ambulances, which reached there for rescue work.

Police said that the second bomb was fixed in a cement block which also contained ball bearings. It targetted police personnel and rescue officials.
