Aligarh: Aligarian Foundation, an NGO by AMU students and alumni organized awareness cum help camp in the lawns of Senior Secondary School (Girls), AMU on the eve of new admissions to class XI for the coming academic session. The camp was organized with a view to help the admission seekers and their parents in dealing with the formalities of the admission procedure and at the same time to create awareness about the glorious traditions and culture of AMU .
Inaugurating the camp Provost of Abdullah Hall said that it is a commendable step on the part of students that they have come forward to help the freshers’ and are informing them about the traditions and culture of AMU. She appreciated the efforts of the Aligarian Foundation and said this type of awareness camps can be instrumental in reviving the long cherished traditions of AMU. She also said that she is ready to extend all sort of help to the students for such cause.
Elected Member of AMU Executive Council and senior faculty at D/O Commerce, AMU Dr Mohd Asif Khan said that he is very happy to see the efforts of senior students in passing on the message of Sir Syed and the unique culture which AMU is enjoying to their juniors.
He said efforts should be made to disseminate and spread the traditions which AMU has cherished and this can be done by expanding AMU and taking it to the places/regions where our community is most backward in all spheres of life, he said that a step has been initiated in this direction by setting up of the AMU’s special centers in Kerala, West Bengal and Bihar.
He urged everybody to contribute in this noble endeavor and fulfill the dream of Sir Syed by supporting the Expansion of AMU in the backward regions of India. He opined that there is a threat to AMU centers in three states, from Sangh elements in Congress itself. He requested that all Muslims of India and the world should be mentally and physically prepared to launch a national, democratic and peaceful agitation if these universities are taken over by the government in name of making them minority universities. He cautioned that such centers may become universities like Osmania of Hyderabad and Barkatullah of MP which are Muslims by name only and no benefit is being extended from both of them to Muslims.
President of the Aligarian Foundation Affan Ahmad said that they derived the idea to organize this camp from the vision of the AMU VC and his sincere efforts in reviving the traditions of AMU. He said that Aligarian Foundation is committed for this cause and will to do maximum to create awareness about the traditions of AMU. He also prayed to the Almighty Allah to strengthen the hands of the people who are leading the movement for establishment of AMU centers.
Secretary of the Aligarian Foundation, Kamil Vakil said that they have chalked out a comprehensive plan of action which includes distribution of pamphlets containing information on Sir Syed and traditions of AMU and organizing awareness camps on the eve of new admissions, the first of which was organized at engineering college and this is the second camp in this fray. He also said that the volunteer’s in the camp will help the students and their parents in dealing with admission formalities and will also distribute literature to them as a part of their awareness campaign regarding AMU traditions. He said that more such camps will be organized in days to come on the occasion of new admissions.
On this occasion a large number of students and their parents visited the camp and lauded the efforts of Aligarian Foundation. They were also delighted to know about the expansion of AMU in form of its special centers and opined that this will make education accessible to the most marginalized section of Indian society i.e Muslims.
