New Delhi: Mission Bhartiyam, a city based youth organization is organizing a demonstration on Sunday, July 21 to protest against the Ramban Massacre by BSF that claimed 6 lives and injured 44 others. This is a call by the voluntary organization for equal democratic rights for the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

The BSF had opened fired on a mob that was protesting against the alleged manhandling by BSF personnel of a local imam, followed by the reported desecration of the Holy Quran the previous night. It’s alleged that the mob attacked a BSF post in Gool in Ramban district Thursday morning that led to the massacre.

“This shameful incident of Ramban massacre is not a sudden reaction to the protest. There is every reason to believe that the security personals had sufficient capability to face the protestors but decided to open fire on them as if they were mentally-prepared to take such action,” Mission Bhartiyam said in a press statement.

It added, “The Ramban incident is a prima facie case of coercive method adopted by the security personals and highlights the highhanded attitude of the security forces that they have acquired over a period time due to their absolute powers and the impunity granted to them.”

“There is every reason to believe that like other similar incidents before, there will be no action taken by the government against security personals in Ramban massacre too. In such situation the only option left for the secular democratic forces to raise voice against such injustices”, it further added.

‘The organization feels that it is high time that the secular democratic forces in the country must raise voice against injustice’ happening in J&K, said Ravi Nitesh of Mission Bhartiyan.

Mission Bhartiyan has demanded the repealing of AFSPA, to investigate all crimes committed under it, prosecuting the guilty persons and demilitarization as the primary and just initiatives that must be taken to improve the situation in J&K. It is in this context organizing a protest in New Delhi on Sunday, 11 AM at Jantar Mantar and has appealed to all progressive groups, individuals and organizations to join the demonstration.
