Delhi five star hotels sign MoU with Delhi government

New Delhi : Delhi’s all 32 five-star hotels Monday signed a MoU with the Delhi government under which they will take environment friendly measures and comply with Green Hotel Guidelines.

Under the agreement, the hotels are supposed to set up a dedicated sewage treatment plant or biological effluent treatment plant for treatment of waste water by Sep 30, said a Delhi government statement.

The hotels will have to install solar water heating system, provide decentralised facilities and equipment for conversion of organic solid waste into compost with bio-fuel.

Besides, they will have to develop a green belt to create buffer zone from main roads and comply with other issues such as energy auditing, water auditing, application of renewable energy.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit exhorted the hotels to complete their obligations by the prescribed deadlines.

“The Delhi Pollution Control Committee would monitor the process as per set parameters,” said Dikshit.
