New Delhi : An assistant sub-inspector of police was arrested for taking a bribe of Rs.10,000 to release a car involved in a road rage case, an official said Thursday.
Accused Anuj Chikara, in his late 20s, posted in west Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh police station, was arrested Tuesday by the anti-corruption unit of police.
“He was arrested while taking the bribe,” said a police officer.
The complainant against Chikara was Harikishan whose car was taken in police custody Feb 26 after he was allegedly involved in manhandling another motorist after a minor collision near Punjabi Bagh flyover.
When Harikishan approached the policemen, who was handling the case, for the release of his vehicle, he was asked to pay Rs.10,000.
“Harikishan informed the anti-corruption department and the assistant sub-inspector was arrested,” said the officer.
