New Delhi : Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar Monday introduced a bill to ensure agricultural biosecurity of the country and safeguard the agricultural economy in the Lok Sabha.
The Agricultural Biosecurity Bill aims to set up an authority for prevention, control, eradication and management of pests and diseases of plants and animals, said an official.
It will also meet international obligations for facilitating imports and exports of plants, plant products, animals, animal products, aquatic organisms and regulation of agriculturally important micro organisms, he said.
