Aligarh: The Disability Unit of the Aligarh Muslim University organized an orientation programme for volunteers. The orientation programme consisted of a series of lectures delivered by scholars and experts on various relevant topics.
Highlighting the objective behind organizing this programme, the coordinator of the unit, Prof. Nabi Ahmad said that the people who are more blessed have a responsibility towards those who are marginalized and less blessed in terms of physical and mental potential.

He said that educating people from physically challenged section of society is a noble job and physically endowed people should help them achieve their due share in public life, whether it is education or the career building. He said the onus lied on the volunteers to help the disadvantaged section to get educated and adequately placed in life.
Delivering a lecture on “Helping Physically Challenged”, Prof. M. Idrees of the Department of Chemical Engineering, highlighted the human side of the movement for empowering disabled with greater academic and professional acumen and help them stand in the society by their own. He said there were more than 650 million people challenged with some kind of physical disability.
