Patna : Hundreds of students took to the streets here Tuesday attacking police, torching vehicles and ransacking public property to protest the killing of a student, police said.
A day after the student was shot dead at a private hostel in Patna, fellow students burnt tyres on roads, disrupting traffic and forcing shops and markerts to shut down.
According to police, Rajesh Kumar, a student of a Patna college, was shot dead and two students – Anu Sekhar and Anil Kumar – were seriously injured when a group of people attacked them in their hostel.
The injured are being treated at the Patna Medical College and Hospital.
Senior Superintendent of Police Amrit Raj said additional security forces have been deployed in Patna to control the situation.
Police said the killing was the result of a row following a road accident here Sunday.
