Malabar-based Darshana TV expands to Kuwait

Kuwait City: Darshana, an Indian general entertainment television channel broadcasting Malayalam has expanded to Kuwait by appointing Sayid Ghalib Al-Mashoor Thangal as its Chief of Kuwait Bureau.

Darshana TV was launched in 2010 by the Samastha Kerala Sunni Students’ Federation (SKSSF), the students’ organisation of the Samastha Kerala Jam’iyathul Ulema (EK faction).



Sayid Ghalib Al-Mashoor Thangal

Based in Kozhikode, Kerala, the channel is owned by Sathyadara Communications Private Limited with its chairman, a well respected leader among the youths of Kerala Panakkad Syed Sadiqali Shihab Thangal.

Ghalib Al-Mashoor Thangal, a well known personality and community leader in Kuwait and GCC countries was the Official correspondent for “Chandrika Daily” during 1982-1986 and was also the “Chief Censor” for 5 years at Ministry of Information (Govt. of Kuwait) until the invasion of Kuwait in 1990 by Iraq. He was instrumental for handling and censoring of various Malayalam newspapers and magazines which were published throughout India for circulation in Kuwait and censoring was done with

the combined coordination of Kuwait Airport Censoring section of the Ministry of Information in Kuwait and he is still maintaining the relationship with the officials of Ministry of Information .(Minorities Chapter) on dated 17th March’2013
