Odisha entrepreneur gets honorary doctorate in Czech Republic

Bhubaneswar : Odisha’s social entrepreneur Achyuta Samanta was conferred an honorary doctorate by a university in the Czech Republic, his office said in a statement here Sunday.

The Czech University of Life Sciences (CULS), Prague, conferred the degree of doctorate (Honoris Causa) on Samanta March 11 for his contribution towards society and for his initiative to educate underprivileged tribal children.

Samanta is the founder of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) – a group of professional institutes – KIIT University and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS).

KISS in Bhubaneswar is home to more than 20,000 tribal children who receive free educational and vocational training.

Samanta was earlier conferred an honorary doctorate by the National Formosa University in Taiwan.
