Governor of Pakistan’s Punjab province quits

Islamabad : Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood, governor of Pakistan’s Punjab province, quit Monday, a media report said.

Mahmood announced his resignation from the post following clean sweep in Punjab elections the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) has registered, reported the daily Dawn.

He said that he had sent his resignation to Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.

Shahbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif’s brother, is again expected to become chief minister of Punjab.
