Barabanki: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mansur Elahi in Faizabad confirmed before the Special Court in Faizabad which is hearing the cases of terror accused Tariq Qasmi, Sajjadur Rehman, Akhtar and Khalid Mujahid (now deceased) that he had signed the Vakalatnama submitted for opposing them.
Mansur Elahi, who is district unit president of Legal Wing of SP in Faizabad—Samajwadi Adhivakta Sabha. Mansur is a senior leader of SP in Faizabad and had even contested elections twice for the post of Chairman, Nagar Palika.
He is one of the lawyers in the panel of 7 lawyers constituted by Faizabad Bar Association to oppose the terror accused. His role becomes significant after state government’s decision to withdraw the case.
“I had confirmed before the court that I had signed the Vakalatnama. Actually the defence lawyer had raised objection over my signature,” confirmed Mansur Elahi to TwoCircles.net. He however clarified his role in the whole case.“Technically I had signed the Vakalatnama but I am not part of the panel anymore. Since I am the complainant in the case, I continue to remain in the case. But I will not oppose government’s decision to withdraw the case against them,” Elahi clarified.
Few days ago, four lawyers including Jamal who is contesting the case of terror accused were thrashed. Their officers in the district court was broken and one of them Saleem, advocate had to be admitted. A police case has been registered in this case.
The special court of Additional District Judge Mohammad Hussain is hearing the case of accused in Faizabad. The special court will listen to the arguments of both parties on the bail application of Sajjadur Rahman of 4thJune.
