Lucknow: Rihai Manch has accused the Uttar Pradesh Government of using coercive forces to throttle to voices of the Muzafafrnagar riot victims.
Manch had planned a press conference on Lucknow today where they planned to show the video of a Mahapanchayt where Jat leaders, including BJP MLA Sangeet Som is seen giving inciting speeches and play the purported mobile recording of rioters.
Rihai Manch chairman Advocate Mohamamd Shoaib has alleged that on the directions of the government, police and intelligence is coercing them to cancel the programme.
According to Rihai Manch spokesperson Rajeev Yadav, they got call from the police agency asking them to cancel the programme on the ground that it would incite communal tension.
Manch sees it as government’s attempt to throttle the voices of the riot victims.
Rajeev Yadav said that while the victims are being coerced to give an affidavit accepting compensation that they have no cases, now the government is trying to coerce even the civil society groups from holding press conference.
Yadav said that they have no plans to cancel the programme and that the event will go as scheduled, and if police does not allow them inside then they will protest on road and dare the government to arrest the,.
