Lucknow: The mortal remains of spiritual leader Kripalu Maharaj were Monday consigned to the flames at Mangarh Ashram in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh.
His grandson Ramanand Tripathi lit the funeral pyre at the ashram, 165 km from Lucknow, in the presence of hundreds of followers of the godman.
The district administration had made tight security arrangements for the funeral.
The ashram management said that after discussions with the family and trust members, a “samadhi” of the late seer would be constructed at the funeral site.
Kripalu Maharaj had a fatal fall at his ashram Nov 11 and was rushed to a Gurgaon hospital in an air ambulance after his condition deteriorated. He died at the Fortis Memorial Research Institute in Gurgaon last week.
