New Delhi : The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Tuesday urged political parties not to protect tainted politicians.
The criminalization of politics and involvement of tainted people in governance have proved devastating for India, Jamaat’s secretary general Nusrat Ali said.
“It is unfortunate that even 65 years after independence, we as a nation cannot produce people of high moral values to run the country,” Ali said in a statement.
“Our country is facing such a serious situation that not a single political party seems able to maintain its existence without the support of corrupt and criminal people,” he added.
“This is dangerous not just for the political system but is against the larger interests of the society and country.”
Ali urged political parties to take “hard decisions … to get rid of the filth” so that the country gets good people as legislators.
