Islamabad : Pakistan government has clarified that no formal talks are in progress with the Taliban, Geo News reported Sunday.
In a statement Sunday, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, said the government had, however, devised a policy in this regard and implementation on the same would begin after taking the political parties into confidence.
“This is an extremely complicated issue. The government has, in this regard, chalked out a strategy which will be implemented after all political parties are taken into confidence,” he said.
Contradicting some media reports suggesting talks were ongoing with the Taliban, the minister said it was premature to state that talks were being held between the two sides.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, on his return from Karachi next week, intends to contact the heads of significant political parties over the issue, Khan added.
