‘Best’ solution found to UPSC test row, says Venkaiah

New Delhi : The “best” possible solution to the row over the aptitude test in the civil services exam was taken by the government, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu told BJP MPs Tuesday.

Speaking at the meeting of the BJP parliamentary party, Naidu said that the decision on CSAT (civil services aptitude test) was the “best and quick” and the solution found by the government will not disrupt the examination process conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), party sources said.

The government Monday told parliament that the marks in English language comprehension skills in the CSAT would not be included in preparing the merit list and the exams have been thus made “language neutral”.

Several MPs also spoke on the issue.

The sources added that India’s stand at World Trade Organization (WTO) was also discussed, and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the MPs should communicate to people that the government took a pro-farmer stand.

Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman later made a statement on the issue in the Lok Sabha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who returned from his official Nepal visit Monday evening, was present at the meet.
