New Delhi: Anis Siddiqui, a renowned artist of Islamic Urdu calligraphy from Jamia Millia Islamia, will display his works in an exhibition called “Divinity in Syllables” – Exhibition of Buddhist Bhoti and Islamic Urdu calligraphy curated by Kshipra Simon.
The exhibition shall also showcase the works of Jamyang Dorjee Chakrishar, one of the most respected Buddhist teachers and foremost Buddhist Bhoti calligrapher. The exhibition is being organized by International Buddhist Confederation and India International Centre, New Delhi.
Together Buddhist and Islamic calligraphy epitomize ancient wisdom and message of the divine for the benefit of the mankind and all sentient beings. The exhibition is a step towards initiating an understanding through a common artistic expression.
The exhibition shall be inaugurated on August 8, 2014 at 06.30 PM and shall be on view from 9th to 16th August, 2014 from 11 AM to 7 PM in the Art Gallery, IIC Annexe, Indian International Centre, Lodi Road, New Delhi-110003.
The Artist Talk on the history and the spiritual links with this art form and Discussion is scheduled to be held on August 11, 2014 at 06.30 PM.
Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Home, shall be the Chief Guest of the programme. Pavan K Verma, Rajya Sabha MP and Arif Mohammad Khan, former Union Minister and MP shall be the Co-Chairpersons of the programme.
