Chairperson of Minorities Commission A. Halim Chowdhury speaking at the function.
In his speech, Parliamentary Secretary Md. Amin Shah said the Muslim parents should give proper attention to the education of their children. The State Government under the Department of MOBC is giving scholarship and coaching facilities to the minority students, besides different programmes to improve the educational insfrastructure in the minority pockets of the State. The Muslim parents should grab the opportunities that the Government is providing to promote education among the minorities. The educational standard of the Muslims in the State is still very low. One of the main reason for the low standard is their outlook towards modern education system. The community should change its outlook, he added.
Md. Amin Shah also lauded the intiatives taken up by AMMGSU for the education of Muslim girls.
In his speech, MSMC Chairperson A. Halim Chowdhury said he is happy to see that the Muslim community is gradually realising the importance of modern education. The community should be made aware of the facilities that the State Government, particularly the Department of MOBC, is giving for the Muslim students.
In her speech, President of AMMGSU Rukshar Choudhary expressed hope that the Muslim intellectuals and the general public will continue to give their valuable advice and support. The body has managed to take up various programmes for the welfare of the Muslim girl students and addressed issues that concerned the Muslim girls, particularly the ever-increasing cases of crime against girl students, she added.
The Muslim girls in the State are yet to get the freedom to go to school like any other girls in the society. The State Government should endeavour to provide adequate educational facilities and safe environment for the Muslim girls. The union strives to bring the under-previleged Muslim community on par with the others. In this endeavour the union needs the support and co-operation of all the members of the society, she added.
The function was attended by large number of Muslim students, community leaders and general public.
