Modi holds retreat with chief ministers, discusses innovations

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday held a “retreat” with chief ministers where they shared innovations which had a visible impact in improving governance or improving service delivery to the citizens.

A PMO press release said that the retreat, held after formal meeting with the chief ministers on the new institution to replace Planning Commission, was a first-of-its-kind initiative.

“The purpose is to learn from each others` successes so that they could be replicated in other states,” the release said.

It said that Modi and the chief ministers met without the support of any officials in a relaxed, private setting and discussed developmental issues and specific success stories in their states.

“(The) chief ministers highlighted one area each where they had done something innovative and which had a visible impact, either in improving governance or in improving service delivery to citizens,” the release said.

It also said that all participants felt that this was “an extremely useful exercise” which could be repeated in the future.
