Islamabad : At least nine militants were killed in two different security operations in Pakistan’s Ziarat and Gujrat areas, media reported Friday.
A search operation was conducted in Sanjawi area of Ziarat district following information of the presence of a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander in the area. The operation was carried out by intelligence agencies and the Frontier Corps, The News International reported citing security sources.
In an exchange of fire during the operation, seven militants were killed while one member of the security forces was injured. The militants were said to be involved in kidnapping for ransom and attacks on security forces.
Meanwhile, at least two terrorists were killed during an operation by police and intelligence agencies in Gujrat city of Punjab province Friday.
The operation was conducted near Lalamusa area and the killed terrorists belonged to TTP, district police officer Gujrat Rai Ijaz said in a statement.
The terrorists were planning to carry out attacks at the police lines and other sensitive locations, he added.
