Islamabad : Resumption of power supply in Pakistan’s Karachi city, which remained suspended Sunday for more than 10 hours, is underway.
An electricity company spokesperson said majority of the Sindh province faced a massive breakdown due to a technical fault in one of the high voltage transmission lines supplying electricity to Karachi from the national grid, Dawn online reported.
The spokesperson said the 500 kv transmission line had tripped due to humidity and fog.
The breakdown also affected several areas in Balochistan province.
Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad Khan, taking cognisance of the breakdown, ordered officials to ensure resumption of electricity supply to the city as soon as possible.
