Adv Sajid Siddiqui of SDPI may contest Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal

Bhopal: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) held an appraisal meeting here about contesting the Bhopal parliamentary seat in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections 2014.

SDPI national general secretaries AM Faizy from Kerala and Adv. Sharfuddin from Kanpur attended the meeting as national observers held in Hameed Manzil the other day. In the meeting various social and literary organisations along with intellectuals, professors, advocates, poets and social and human right activists participated in the meeting and expressed their views over the subject.

The overwhelming view that filtered down in the end was that SDPI should contest the ensuing Lok Sabha elections 2014 and the participants in the meeting promised to extend their moral, financial and physical all out support for the party. The unanimous opinion of the speakers was that the SDPI should contest the elections from Bhopal with Adv. Sajid Siddiqui, president of SDPI Madhya Pradesh unit, to be the candidate of the party whose image as an honest, hardworking and affectionate leader is well known to one and all.

The national observers Faizy and Adv. Sharfuddin shall apprise the Central Secretariat of SDPI to be held at Bangalore on February 15 about their opinion of contesting Bhopal parliamentary seat in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. The decision of the Central Secretariat on the issue along with the candidature of Adv. Sajid Siddiqui together with contesting other parliamentary seats all over India would be made in the National Working Committee, (NWC), to be held on February 16 at the same venue.

Meanwhile, at the outset Adv. Sharfuddin said that the emergence of SDPI since its inception in 2009 i.e. in last more than four years has checkmated many of its formidable foes. While throwing light on the aims and object of the party he said that SDPI stands for the realization of a social order and political system based on the great ideals of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity enshrined in the Indian Constitution. It is mobilising people to enjoy civil rights through democratic struggles including elections. The party is striving for the establishment of governance in the Union and the States, capable of fulfilling equal rights to all citizens and all classes in India. It aims to unite all depressed classes in a national political movement.

He said that the SDPI is trying to uphold a political ideology founded on the following principles: National integration, communal amity and social harmony; Democratization of society and politics; Rule of law and Human Rights; Freedom from fear and hunger; Eco-friendly and non-destructive development model; Welfare and progress of the weaker sections; Security and dignity of the marginalized classes; Cultural identity of the tribal, the dalits and the minorities; Empowerment of minorities and backward castes & Unity and solidarity among the depressed communities.

AM Faizy speaking on the occasion said that he was overwhelmed seeing bonhomie shown towards SDPI and the promise to extend support to SDPI candidate for Bhopal parliamentary seat.
