“Left parties are working to unite all secular and democratic parties to provide an alternative to non-Congress and non-BJP alliance ahead of the polls,” Karat, here to address a “vikalp” rally, organised by his Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), told mediapersons.

“Leaders of 11 such parties will again meet Feb 22 in Delhi to discuss and chalk out a strategy for giving a concrete shape to the alliance,” he said.

Karat said Left parties, including CPI-M, may join hands with Bihar’s ruling Janata Dal-United of chief minister Nitish Kumar to contest the general elections.

“We have not finalised it as discussion on seat sharing and other issues are still going on,” he said.
