The Thai Criminal Court ordered Sonthiyan’s release on a 400,000 baht (nearly $12,400) bond, after first agreeing to extend his detention on insurrection and other charges for 12 days, the Bangkok Post reported.

Sonthiyan vowed to fight the insurrection charges against him.

He was the first to be arrested Feb 9 among the 19 leaders of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee.

He took part in anti-government protests and prevented government officials from holding advance polls Jan 26 and stopped people from voting.
