Alwaleed Foundation donates $200,000 for Syrian children

    Riyadh : Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation has made a significant financial contribution to support children affected by the crisis in Syria, UNICEF announced yesterday.

    Dr. Ibrahim El-Ziq, Gulf Area Representative for UNICEF, praised the foundation. “We would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation for its ongoing commitment to crucial development and humanitarian relief efforts. As a dedicated philanthropist, Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud has made a marked difference in the lives of people in the region and world,” he said and added:

    “Now, as the situation continues to worsen in Syria, Prince Alwaleed’s generous contributions will help save the lives of children and women displaced inside Syria as well as refugee populations across the region.”

    El-Ziq said during 2013, the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation supported UNICEF’s efforts to help more than five million children get immunized to prevent child mortality and provide more than 10 million people with access to clean drinking water and sanitation. He said 853,476 children were provided with psychological support and 559,266 children were given access to quality education in safe and protective learning environments thanks to the foundation’s support.
