The murderer has been identified as Vinit Arora, a shopkeeper.

Arora’s wife Priti, daughter of deceased Usha Devi, identified the body of her mother.

“Priti and her husband , a resident of Krishna colony here, had heated arguments over some petty issue Jan 11. Priti called her mother’s mobile and told her about their quarrel,” police office Suresh Kumar told IANS.

“On the other hand, Arora went to Usha Devi’s house in 4-7 Marla area and asked her to come with him to his house so that they can settle the issue,” he added.

Usha Devi, however, blamed him for the quarrel. Angry over her not supporting him, Arora strangulated her in the car and threw the body on the road near a park in New Colony area, a short distance from his house.

Usha Devi’s husband Ramesh Kumar is a senior lawyer at Tis Hazari court at New Delhi and lives with his elder son, also a lawyer, in Delhi, while she lived here alone in rented accommodation.

The accused was arrested on the basis of mobile call details. Usha Devi had received her last call from Arora.

Arora will produced before the court Wednesday.
