Sonia Gandhi lays the foundation stone of AMU Kishanganj Centre

    Kishanganj, Bihar: Amidst great fervor and enthusiasm, UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi today laid down the foundation stone of AMU Kishanganj Centre at AMU Centre’s land in Chakla village of the district. Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Mr. Pallam Raju, Bihar Governor, Dr. D. Y. Patil, Bihar Chief Minister, Shri Nitish Kumar and Bihar Minister of Education, P. K. Shahi was also present on the occasion.

    Addressing the people, Sonia Gandhi assured that allocated fund for the centre will be released soon. She said that she will see that the development process in the centre is not marred by any fund crisis. She assured of full help on her part.

    On this occasion, Mrs Gandhi interacted with the people. A large number of people gathered to witness the celebration with great enthusiasm and joy.

    Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar said that he had allocated a contiguous land two years ago but the Centre took time to release the required fund for its establishment. He however expressed happiness that everything was fine and it was hoped that the Centre would immediately release the fund so that the construction work on this land commences soon. He urged the University to get the boundary wall of the land constructed at the earliest.

    Earlier, welcoming the guests, AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Udin Shah expressed gratitude to the state and central governments for their support and assistance in making the AMU Kishanganj Centre a reality. He thanked the Bihar Chief Minister, Shri Nitish Kumar for allocating the required land and providing building for starting the B. Ed. course. He hoped that Bihar government would continue to provide help and assistance in infrastructure development of the centre.

    Education Minister of Bihar, Shri P. K. Shahi urged the Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Pallam Raju to arrange more funds for the AMU Kishanganj Centre and start professional courses.

    Kishanganj MP and the soul of the Kishanganj centre movement, Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi thanked the Centre and state governments and appreciated the role of Shri Nitish Kumar in providing land for the centre. He assured all help to the centre from his side.

    Pervez Siddiqui, Secretary, Sir Syed Minority Foundation presented a memorandum to Sonia Gandhi for restoration of Minority Status of AMU. Mr. Mohd. Aslam of Human Chain presented bouquets to Mrs. Gandhi, Nitish Kumar and AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Shah and thanked them for making Kishanganj Centre a reality.
