New Delhi : Senior women journalists Wednesday urged Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar to ensure that media houses set up internal committee to deal with sexual harassment at workplace.
“In a meeting with Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar, delegations of Indian Women’s Press Corps and Press Club of India asked him to ensure that media houses complied with the setting up of mandated internal committees as per the new Sexual Harassment (Prevention, Prohibition, Redressal) Act, 2013,” said a statement said.
The delegation also sought the information and broadcasting ministry’s intervention over the issue of implementation of labour laws in media houses.
Javadekar assured the journalists to look into their demands, it said, adding that the minister agreed that employers have a responsibility towards women employees like organising drops for them during night shift.
