Jakarta: India, with an exclusive pavilion, participated for the first time in Jakarta Fair 2014, the largest fair with about 3,000 micro, small and medium enterprises as well as 90 sponsor companies taking part in Indonesia.
While inaugurating the India Pavilion Wednesday at JI Expo, Indian Ambassador Gurjit Singh said these are practical ways to showcase Indian products and gain entry in the Indonesian market. He said it will give Indonesian customers an opportunity for a closer look at the Indian products and expressed the hope that the event will be fruitful for the participating companies.
It is for the first time India is participating in the fair and the only country with an exclusive pavilion. The fair was inaugurated by the vice president of Indonesia June 9 to celebrate the 487th anniversary of Jakarta. The fair is open from June 6 to July 6 with all types of consumer goods, said an Indian embassy statement.
There are about 50 Indian companies in the India Pavilion organised by ASSOCHAM in coordination with the Indian embassy. The Indian companies are exhibiting home textiles, imitation jewellery, leather goods, handicrafts, shawls, scarves, rugs and carpets.
