Muzaffarnagar: In a public function attended by dignitaries and hundreds of riot victims including women, children and youth, Popular Front of India on 27th June inaugurated its first phase of Rehabilitation Project in Muzaffarnagar.
The programme was held at Basikala, one of the resettlement villages of riot victims in Muzaffarnagar district. These people were pulling their lives without a proper job, sanitation and other facilities for the last many months after having been forcefully driven away from their homes during Muzaffarnagar riot.
The Rehabilitation project consists of providing income generation and self-employment oriented programmes and educare programmes to the victims. Altogether, two villages have been identified for the first phase rehabilitation programmes. The selected villages are Basikala in Sahahpur and Sarai in Bhudana of Muzaffar nagar district. For the educational rehabilitation of the child victims the organisation will open educare centres in these villages. The centre will provide free tuition classes, career guidance and counselling services for the children and their parents.
Saheer Abbas, Popular Front of India North zone coordinator inaugurated the handing over of financial aid for the self-employment to the beneficiaries as the first phase rehabilitation. The welcome speech was delivered by Muhammed Jabir M. M., Project coordinator, Muzaffarnagar Rehabilitation project.
Moulana Shadab, President, PFI Western U.P. presented a briefing of the project. Mr. Raheedmudheen, Field coordinator, Muzaffarnagar rehabilitation project, Master Ali, community leader in Basikala resettlement village also participated in the programme.
Saheeer Abbas who inaugurated the programme promised that Popular Front being an organization which is in the forefront of people’s rights for justice, is determined to extend all possible support in the legal fight until every single victim of this riot is delivered due justice that Indian constitution assures to its citizens. He added that the organisation has made strategic plans for the complete rehabilitation of the riot victims in different villages and will extend its activities to more villages in coming months.
