Jammu : The Indian Army Monday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, police said Monday.
The Pakistani troops resorted to an unprovoked firing in Poonch to facilitate infiltration by a group of guerrillas, police said.
“The Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing at the Indian positions in Tarkundi sector of the LoC in Poonch during Sunday night,” a senior police officer told IANS here.
“The firing was started to help an infiltration bid by a group of five to six militants which was foiled by alert troops of the army guarding the LoC on our side.”
The Indian Army and intelligence agencies have been blaming the Pakistan Army for aiding infiltration of trained guerrillas into Jammu and Kashmir from across the borders to sustain more than 23-year long armed violence in the state.
Pakistan has been denying the accusation.
