Chandigarh: The maximum temperatures Saturday dipped at most places as rainfall lashed several parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh since Friday.
According to Met officials, maximum temperatures dipped by three to eight degrees Saturday, bringing in the chill factor.
Chandigarh saw a high of 17.4 degrees Celsius – eight degrees below normal. The city and its surrounding areas were being lashed by rains since Friday evening, affecting normal life.
Agriculture experts said hailstorm accompanied by rain could harm the standing wheat crop in the two states.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a maximum temperature of 18.5 degrees Celsius – five degrees below normal whereas Karnal recorded a high of 15.6 degrees Celsius – seven degrees below normal.
In Punjab, Patiala and Amritsar recorded highs of 17.4 and 19.6 degrees Celsius – six and three degrees below normal.
