Seminar on Quranic perspective for peaceful coexistence at AMU

Aligarh: The K. A. Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a two-day National Seminar on “Peaceful Coexistence in Multi-Cultural Societies: The Quranic Perspective” on March 8-9, 2014. The inaugural ceremony will be held in the Conference Room of Administrative Block, AMU.

Director of the Centre, Prof. A. A. Nizami said that Maulana Mohammad Rabey Hasani Nadwi, Nazim Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow will deliver keynote address and Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah, Vice Chancellor, AMU Aligarh will preside over the function.

He said that the Seminar will focus on issues and problems that threaten world peace and inter-cultural harmony. It will contribute to peace, prosperity and human happiness by promoting peaceful dialogue and harmonious coexistence among all religions and walks of life in India and abroad.

He said that it will promote human brotherhood among multicultural societies and seek to lessen hatred, corruption and disorder among individuals and multicultural societies through Quranic approach. It would help in dissemination of a culture of peace among human beings, he added.

Prof. Nizami said that four themes – world peace, social peace, individual’s peace and environmental peace will be discussed by experts, Ulemas and scholars from India, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Malaysia.

Professor Akhtarul Wasey, New Delhi, Professor Anis Chishti, Pune, Professor Abdur Rahim Qidwai, Aligarh and Maulana Anisur Rahman Nadwi, Bangalore will deliver invited lectures and chair the technical sessions.

The K. A. Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies is also organizing a three-day exhibition on “Indian Islamic Calligraphy & Graphic Design’’ in collaboration with Siasat Art Gallery, Hyderabad on March 19-21, 2014. AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt Gen (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah will inaugurate the exhibition. He said that inaugural function will be held on March 19, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Centre for Quranic Studies. Works of students of the Centre’s Calligraphy Unit and masterpieces of calligraphers of Hyderabad will be displayed on this occasion.
