TRS leaders call on governor

Hyderabad : A delegation of TRS leaders Sunday met Andhra Pradesh Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to convey to him the election of party chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao as the leader of the legislature party.

The delegation led by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leader E. Rajender submitted to the governor the resolution passed by the TRS legislature party Saturday, unanimously electing Rao as its leader.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, is likely to call on the governor later to stake claim for forming the government.

Rajender said KCR would take oath as chief minister after formation of the Telangana state June 2.

The governor congratulated the TRS leaders over their party’s victory. The delegation sought the governor’s help to implement the promises made in the party’s election manifesto.

Meanwhile, several Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers made a beeline at KCR’s residence to meet and congratulate him.

The TRS bagged 63 seats in 119-member assembly. It also won 11 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
