New Delhi : The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the country’s specialist disaster response unit, will hold a demonstration Tuesday on quick response in a hypothetical earthquake situation at the ongoing trade fair here.
The NDRF has so far saved 4,21,885 lives by its prompt response in various rescue operations.
Apart from its mandated task of a specialist response, the NDRF also organises demonstrations and exhibitions to create awareness on disaster management among various stakeholders, public, government and non-government organisations and students.
To showcase its disaster management capabilities, the NDRF along with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will Tuesday organise a demonstration on quick response in a hypothetical earthquake scenario.
It will be followed by an exhibition on disaster management equipment being used by NDRF rescuers to respond to various disasters, an official release said here Monday.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh would be the chief guest on the occasion.
The NDRF has worked saving lives during the floods in Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Odisha, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir, and during building collapses in Pune and Chennai.
