Delhi BJP sends relief material to flood-hit Kashmir

New Delhi : The Delhi unit of the BJP Tuesday sent two trucks of relief material to the flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir, where nearly 200 people have died.

“Two trucks of relief material, including plastic tents, tarpauline, food grain and medicines have been dispatched to Jammu and Kashmir today (Tuesday),” said a statement by the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The trucks were flagged off by Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay, who took the decision at a meeting Sep 7 after the party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit requested them for help.

Flood waters continued to play havoc in Srinagar Tuesday as authorities scrambled to rescue the marooned and tried to restore the telecom network that has been on the blink for the past three days.

Officials estimate that the toll across the state could be around 200, but unconfirmed reports indicate that the number of deaths could be much higher.
