Kuching city, Malaysia : Zimbabwean Mufti Ismail Musa Menk blamed the Western media for misleading the world about Islam and creating misconception on the divine religion, Borneo Post newspaper reported Wednesday.
His remarks came during a talk with the theme of “Living in Coexistence: The Islamic Perspective” at the Dewan Kompleks Islam Sarawak here yesterday. Chief Minister’s wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Jamilah Anu was among the 1,000 guests who attended the event.
Mufti Musa Menk pointed out that Islam does not preach violence but emphasizes on discussions and consultations in all aspects of life.
Islam also emphasizes the sharing of ideas, common understanding and awareness, he added.
